CALLING ALL PIGEON LOVERS ON THE ISLE OF MAN!!

We often rescue and rehabilitate feral pigeons. Feral pigeons are descended from lost racing pigeons - they are a domesticated species and can not fend for themselves in the wild. That is why they are so friendly towards people and always live in close proximity to humans, for example in town centers, where they can eat our food. Unfortunately they are so successful at this that one pair can raise up to 11 babies a year, causing the pigeon population to spiral out of control, and so local councils and farmers often cull them.

We currently have a crisis on our hands - we have no safe places to release feral pigeons where they will be cared for and safe from persecution. But luckily, pigeons make great pets and so we are looking for people to adopt them from us!

We can provide you with an aviary or pigeon loft for them. You will feed and water them, keep their aviary clean and just generally love and look after them ❤️
We have pigeons who are disabled and will need to be in captivity for life, or we have pigeons who will be able to fly around free during the day and then return to their aviary at night.
You will have a responsibility to prevent them from breeding and becoming a nuisance in the surrounding area - this is easily done as we will provide you with nest boxes for them and dummy eggs so you can take the eggs as they are laid and replace them with dummy eggs. It may seem cruel to prevent them from breeding but it is more cruel to let them breed out of control and then get culled. Besides, we always have orphan feral pigeons coming into our care that your pigeons may be able to adopt!

Interested in adopting some pigeons?

*You will need to have a good sized garden to accommodate their aviary

*You will need to be dedicated to caring for them for the rest of their lives

*You must prevent them from breeding or becoming a nuisance in the surrounding area, as this puts their lives at risk

*If you want to adopt able-bodied pigeons and let them fly free during the day, ideally you will live in a detached property to prevent complaints by neighbors

*You must adopt at least two pigeons as they need company
